SERVICES HELD FOR FONTANELLE FARMER FRIDAY

Funeral services for William Ruwe were held at the Salem Lutheran church at Fontanelle Friday afternoon. A large gathering of relatives and friends was present from Tekamah, Fremont, Blair, Omaha, Hooper and Fontanelle. Floral tributes were beautiful.

Two ministers officiated. They were Rev. F. C. Schuldt of Hastings who was pastor at Fontanelle during Mr. Ruwe’s younger and more active years, and Rev. Mr. Teckhaus of Tekamah who ministered to Mr. Ruwe during his last illnesses. Both paid a high tribute to him. Mr. Ruwe helped build up the Fontanelle community, and it was largely through his influence and material gift that the church at Fontanelle was built.

A mixed quartette composed of Mrs. Walter Schroeder, Miss Sophie Waterman, George Niebaum and Dalton Strenger sang three numbers: “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”, “The City Four Square” and “Jesus Savior Pilot Me”.

Pallbearers, nephews, were Gilbert Ruwe, Obert Ruwe, Chris Kuhlman, Allen Ruwe, Delmar Ruwe and Harold Rabe. Burial was made in the church cemetery under the direction of Shaffer and Beck of Tekamah.

William Henry Ruwe was born at Fontanelle April 4, 1878. He died at his home at Tekamah September 19. He moved from the farm to Fremont in 1929 where he resided for several years, later moving to Tekamah. His health began to fail about three years ago. He is survived by his wife of Tekamah; two sons, Melvin and Christ and one daughter, Mrs. Edna Johnson, all of Fontanelle; two stepsons, George Toft of Tekamah and Harold Toft of California; one sister, Mrs. Henry Rabe of Fremont and one brother, John Ruwe of Hooper.

He was twice married, his first wife being Miss Fredericka Gosker who died in August of 1927. He married Mrs. Emma Toft October, 1929.
