WILLIAM E. SCHAFERSMAN, 70

William E. Schafersman, 70, died Saturday, April 17, 2010, at his home in Arlington.

Private family services will be held. There is no visitation; however, friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Thursday, April 22, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.

William E. “Bill”Schafersman was born Feb. 26, 1940, in Fremont to Clarence and Lillian (Fredericksen) Schafersman. He grew up at Telbasta and was a 1957 graduate of Arlington High School.

He moved to Garden Grove, Calif., and lived there for 12 years where he was an auto salesman and later moved into management. He also sold insurance.

He returned to Telbasta in 1974, and then moved into Arlington in 1986. He worked for Marv Hansen, Hansen Construction, for several years prior to starting his own construction company.

He was a former member of the Nickerson Lions Club and coached Little League baseball at Nickerson for a few years. His passion was his cabin on Table Rock Lake in Eagle, Mo.

On June 9, 1961, he married Velma Mahrt at North Bend. She survives him, as do his sons and daughter-in-law, Wade Schafersman and Bret and Cheryl Schafersman, all of Fremont; daughter and Doug Duis of Trophy Club, Texas; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Barbara Bland and Rose Diedrich, both of Arlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials are suggested to the Arlington Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department and the Arlington Public Schools Scholarship Fund.
