Ivan Higgins Died At Omaha

Ivan Higgins, well known Blair man and resident here for many years, died Friday, January 7th in an Omaha hospital. He had been in failing health for some time.

He was born at Emerson, Nebraska February 16, 1905 and was 66 years of age at his death. He came to Blair as a young man and was married to Lona Van DeVenter, of Blair, who survives his death. He was an auto mechanic by trade.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children; a son, Patrick I. Higgins of Storm Lake, Iowa and a daughter, Mrs. Joy Uchytil of Belle Plain, Iowa.

A brother, Basil Higgins, also lives at Belle Plain, Iowa and a half brother, Everett Silbey, at Craig, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 11th at the Campbell Mortuary wit the Rev. Charles Gates conducting the services. Burial will be made in the Blair Cemetery.

Funeral services for Ivan Higgins Held Tuesday

Funeral services were held Tuesday for Ivan Higgins, well known Blair man, who died January 7th, at a Norfolk, Nebraska hospital.

He was born February 16, 1905 at Emerson, Nebraska but had lived in Blair for many years. He was married to the former Lona Van DeVenter, of Blair, who survives his death.

By trade he was an auto mechanic and for fifteen years he was associated with the Washington County Motors at Blair.

His is survived by two children, Patrick I. Higgins, of Storm Lake, Iowa and by Mrs. Joy Uchytil, of Belle Plaine, Iowa. A brother, Basil Higgins also lives at Belle Plaine and another brother, Everett Silbey, lives at Craig, Nebraska. There are nine grandchildren. A step-father, Arthur Sylvis, of Craig, Nebraska is also living.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 11th at the Campbell Mortuary with interment in the Blair Cemetery. The Rev. Charles Gates conducted the service.

Pallbearers were Mike McMullen, Robin McMullen, Duane Higgins, Robert Rasmussen, Jr., Lloyd Nelson and Art Griffith.
