GEORGE SCHEER, 59, IS DEAD

Death came to George Scheer, well-known Arlington farmer, last Thursday, October 15th, following a protracted illness. He would have been sixty years of age had he lived until December 21st. He passed away at the Dodge County Hospital at Fremont.

John Henry George Scheer was born December 31, 1893, at Arlington, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Scheer, pioneer Arlington farmers. He grew to manhood in the Arlington vicinity and on December 19, 1917, he was married to Miss Hannah Krug, at Boone, Iowa.

The couple established a home near Arlington and took up farming which Mr. Scheer followed throughout his entire life. He had been baptized as a baby and confirmed, as youth, in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Arlington, and this area and its residents were closely associated with his long and useful life.

The deceased is survived by his wife, by two daughters, two sons, three brothers, five sisters and five grandchildren. One son died in infancy.

The sons are Gerald and Howard Scheer, fo Arlington and the daughters are Mrs. Harold Sheets (Gretchen) of Arlington, Mrs. William Lucas (Adeline) of Omaha.

The brothers are Emil and Erwin Scheer, of Arlington and Albert, of Muskegon, Michigan. The sisters are Mrs. August Echtenkamp, (Amanda) of Fremont, Mrs. Walter Westermann (Selma) of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Henry Mueller (Edna) of Fresno, California; Mrs. Ernest Merkling (Alice) of Fremont; Mrs. Arthur Laaker (Lenora) of Arlington.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at St. Paul’s Lutheran church with the Rev. Carl Hellmann conducting the service. Burial, under the direction of the Reckmeyer Funeral Home was made in St. Paul’s cemetery.

Pall bearers were all nephews of the deceased man. They were Ronald Scheer, Richard Merkling, Raymond Echtenkamp, Leonard Laaker and James Mueller.
