Services For Clarence Hilgenkamp Will Be Tuesday

Services for 67 year old Clarence Hilgenkamp will be on Tuesday, March 14th at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Mr. Hilgenkamp died Saturday, March 4th, in the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.

Rev. Robert Backhus will officiate with Reckmeyer Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at the St. Paul’s Cemetery north of Arlington.

Clarence Hilgenkamp was born on June 5, 1910 at Arlington. He had farmed on the same land for his entire life. He was married to Dorothea Scheer on Oct. 6, 1936 in Arlington.

Mr. Hilgenkamp was very active in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the Laymen’s League plus serving on the St. Paul’s Church Board and the St. Paul’s School Board. He also taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the church choir.

Mr. Hilgenkamp had served on the Arlington High School Board, the Papio Soil and Water Conservation District, was Secretary Treasurer of the Arlington Rural Fire District and was a Director of the Concordia Mutual Insurance Company.

He is survived by his wife Dorothea and three sons, Darrell, Melvern and Dennis all of Arlington.

Surviving sisters are Mrs. Clarence (Viola) Kassebaum of Arlington and Ethellean Hilgenkamp of Englewood, Colorado. Brothers are: Leslie of Colon, Nebraska and Edwin of Arlington. There are seven grandchildren.

A memorial has been established for the St. Paul’s Church or for the donor’s favorite charity.

Clarence F. Hilgenkamp was born June 5, 1910 on the farm north of Arlington where he lived his entire life. He was the son of William H. and Ida (Alhmeyer) Hilgenkamp. He was Baptized into the Lutheran Faith on June 26, 1910 at St. Paul’s Church. He was united in Holy Matrimony with Dorothea Scheer On October 6, 1935 at St. Paul’s Church.

Clarence was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church; he served on the Church Board¸ St. Paul’s School Board, the Arlington School Board. He taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the Church Choir. He was Secretary-Treasurer of the Arlington Rural Fire, Dept., was a director of Concordia Mutual Insurance Company and served on the Papio Soil and Water Conservation District.

Clarence passed away Saturday morning, March 4, 1978 at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 67 years, 8 months and 29 days. He is survived by his wife, Dorothea, sons Darrell, Melvern and Dennis; brothers, Leslie and Edwin Hilgenkamp; sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Viola) Kassebaum and Ethellean Hilgenkamp and by 3 grandsons and 4 granddaughters.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family in the Parish Hall for lunch following services.
