NOTE: Nels anglicized his last name to Swanson from Svendsen. He and Johanne were the parents of Deema (Sorenson), Minnie (Mumm), H.A. Svendsen (original family name) His name on the tombstone was Nels.

LUTHERAN SERVICES FOR MRS. SVENDSEN

Rites were held at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Staplehurst Tuesday for 96-year-old Mrs. Niels Svendsen, mother of Mrs. P.C. Sorensen of Blair and grandmother of Mrs. Martin O. Kuhr of Blair, who died at Seward last Wednesday.

Born in Denmark July 11, 1855, she had come to Nebraska with her parents in 1874. They lived near Nebraska City for awhile, then went to Seward County, where she was married to Niels Svendsen July 11, 1876.

Mrs. Svendsen is survived by three children, Mrs. Sorensen of Blair, Mrs. Hans Mumm of Staplehurst and the Rev. H.A. Svendsen of Eugene, Ore.
