ERNEST LONG, 76, DIED EARLY WEDNESDAY, AUG. 20

Ernest Long, a long-time resident of Blair, died early Wednesday at Memorial Community Hospital. He was 76 years of age, having been born January 7, 1899 at Niangua, Missouri.

As a younger man, the deceased was a carpenter and builder, but in recent years had been a maintenance man for several apartment complexes in Blair.

He is survived by his wife, Irma, and by eight children. One daughter preceded him in death.

There are four sons. They are Noel Long of California; J.B. Long of Blair; James Long of Blair; and Robert Long of California. There are four daughters: Nona McDonald of Blair; Anna Lee Henningson of Betty Bunn, both of California; and Susie Jensen of Harlan, Iowa.

A brother, Fred Long, lives at Conway, Missouri and a sister, Jody Long, lives at Peoria, Illinois. There are 26 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodiat Church tomorrow, Friday, August 22nd at 2 p.m. The Rev. Gordon Patterson will conduct the service and burial will be made in the Blair Cemetery under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary.
