FRED B. LONG, 89, DIED SUNDAY IN OMAHA

Fred B. Long, a resident of Blair and Washington County for more than fifty years, died last Sunday, October 8th at the Hallmark Rest Home in Omaha. Prior to going to Omaha to recover from a fall, he had been a guest at the Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.

The deceased was 89 years of age, having been born November 2, 1882 at Walnut, Iowa. For many years he farmed in the McCarthy Distrcit south of Blair. Upon retirement he moved to Blair, living on Lincoln Street in the 1500 block. Several years ago he became a guest at Crowell Memorial Home.

His wife preceded him in death. He is survived by three sons and a daughter. The sons are Arthur Long and Roy Long, both of Omaha, and Howard Long of Mesa, Arizona, and the daughter is Mrs. Thelma Caldwell of Blair. A sister, Mrs. Effie Harper of Blair, also survives.

Funeral services were held at the Campbell Mortuary yesterday (Wednesday) with the Rev. Charles Gates conducting the service. Burial was made in the Blair cemetery.

Pallbearers were Harold W. Rasmussen, Otto Wentz, Floyd Wilbur and Walter Novak.
