Charles L. Sedlacek, age 85, of Fort Calhoun, NE was born January 18, 1931, in Verdigre, NE and died November 11, 2016, Elkhorn, NE.

He was preceded in death by parents, Joseph J. and Harriet (Pavlik) Sedlacek, and cousin, William Chochocousek.

He is survived by close friends, Mike and Joyce Smith, Lori and Joedy Sandhoefner and Randy, all of Fort Calhoun, NE, and cousin, Charlene (Ted) Ondracek.

Charles, a retired Professor of University of Nebraska at Omaha, will be remembered for always teaching in and out of the classroom. He was a volunteer at the Nebraska Railroad Museum and Fremont & Elkhorn Valley Railroad. His friends will truly miss him.

Visitation and Rosary Service is at 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2016, with Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. at Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass is at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Ft. Calhoun, NE. Interment is at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Gretna, NE.

Memorials suggested to St. John The Baptist Catholic Church.

Charles Louis Sedlacek was born January 18, 1931 to Joseph J. and Harriet F. (Pavlik) Sedlacek near Verdigre, NE where his father farmed. As a child he also lived on farms near Gretna, near Ithaca and near Papillion. He graduated from Papillion High School in 1948 and he received his Bachelors Degree from UNO in 1959 and later his Masters. He was a Professor at the University of Nebraska. In 1962 he moved to Nashville near Fort Calhoun

. Charles was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fort Calhoun. He lived for many years at Autumn Pointe and was cared for at Life Care Center of Elkhorn where he died November 11, 2016.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and a cousin William Chochocousek.

He will be greatly missed by special friends Mike and Joyce Smith, Lori and Joedy Sandhoefner & Randy, George Blessing, and a cousin Charlene (Ted) Ondracek.
