Charles L. “Chuck” Blankenbeckler, 66

Charles L. “Chuck” Blankenbeckler, 66, of Blair, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, at First United Methodist Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Tekamah Cemetery.

Charles L. Blankenbeckler was born March 28, 1936, in Tekamah to Kenneth and Lora (Rouse) Blankenbeckler. He graduated from Tekamah High School in 1956. On April 20, 1956 he married Wanda Giles of Tekamah.

Mr. Blankenbeckler was in the auto body business, working for Vinton Motors for 33 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Blair, where he served as head usher, was active on the Missions Committee, and drove the church van. He was co-director of the Washington County Food Pantry since 1997, and received Enterprise Publishing Company’s Volunteer of the Year Award in 2000.

He loved to hunt and fish and was an avid gardener.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda; son, Robert Charles of Omaha; a brother and sister-in-law, R. W. and Diane Blankenbeckler of Millington, Tenn.; a sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Timothy VanBoening of Hastings.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
