Retired Farmer Found 5 Days after Death

George Blanchard was Life-Long Resident of County

George W. Blanchard, retired county farmer, was found dead at his residence on West Lincoln Street, last Saturday morning, at about 9:30 o’clock. Medical authorities, upon examination of the body, place the date of his demise at Monday, August 25-five days previous.

Neighbors had not suspected the tragedy next door, and the discovery was made by Claar Millrons, mail carrier, who became alarmed when Mr. Blanchard’s mail was not removed from the box for several days.

Funeral services were conducted by at Bendorf Funeral Home on Monday, September 1, with Rev. John P. Brooks, Methodist minister officiating.

Mr. Blanchard was born in Arlington on September 23, 1871, spending the nearly seventy years of his life in this county. He was a farmer, although retired at the time of his death. On September 28, 1904, he was united in marriage to Cora Newell; a son who lived only lived six months was born to them on November 10, 1909. Following a lingering illness, Mrs. Blanchard also passed away on November 21, 1935. Since her death, Mr. Blanchard had lived alone.

Survivors include a brother, Charles Blanchard of Herman and two sisters, Mrs. Maude Gray of Omaha and Mrs. Olive Alexander of Orchard.
