Ethel Blatchford, 89

Washington County native Ethel Blatchford, 86, died Feb. 6, 2008 in Woodland Hills, Calif., from pneumonia complications.

Memorial services and interment will be February 15, at the Southern Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City, Nevada.

Ethel Kuhlmann was born December 16, 1921 in rural Herman to Chriss and Mary (Mengedhot) Kuhlmann. She was baptized and confirmed at Vacoma Lutheran Church in rural Herman. She attended New England School. After her school years she moved to California to work.

On December 8, 1951, she married Dean Blatchford and lived in Woodland Hills until her death.

She is survived by her husband, Dean; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Christine Blatchford and Doug and Cindy Blatchford; daughter, Charlotte Ashmore; six grandchildren; a sister, Arlene Lang; brother and sister-in-law Darrell and Norma Kuhlmann; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Loretta Durand, Evelyn Husk, and Lucille Cameron.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or to the family.
