Richard Welchert Sr., 52, died Thursday, March 18, 2010, at his home in Parker, Ariz.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 20, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Parker. Services will also be held at 10 a.m. this Thursday, March 25, at Crosby-Kunold-Burket-Swanson-Golden at 119th and West Center Road in Omaha.

Visitation for family only will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday; and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Richard “Rick” Welchert Sr. was born Aug. 17, 1957, in Omaha to Robert and Donna Jean (Becker) Welchert.

On Sept. 5, 1995, he married Cathy Goslin in Rosalie. The couple moved to Parker, Ariz., in 2001, where Mr. Welchert worked as a carpenter.

He was known for his love of gardening and building.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy, of Parker; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard “Ricky” and Kristine Welchert of Omaha; three stepdaughters, Staci Kronk, Jennifer Everett and Jennifer Thompson; two grandsons, Kaden and Gavin; three granddaughters, Bailey, Kaitlyn and Allison; mother, Donna Jean Welchert; 13 brothers and sisters-in-law, Willie and Sue, Jim, John and Deb, Donald and Jean, Paul, Ted and Sunshine, all of Fort Calhoun, Bob and Pat, Royce, Frank and Diane, Leo and Shelly, of Omaha, Gene and Cathy of Blair, Larry and Barb of Bennington, Jerry and Deb of Cassville, Mo.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Patty, and Jeanne and Ken Knight, all of Fort Calhoun and Linda and Mike Replogle of Omaha; approximately 40 nieces and nephews, and 40 great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Welchert St., brother, Timothy, and brother-in-law, Jim Kelly III.
