Violet E. Hardy, 89, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Fremont, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, at Sunrise Senior Living Center in Tucson.

Violet was born April 8, 1927, to Rev. E.R. and Melvina (Harmon) Christiansen on a farm near Decatur. Violet graduated from Decatur High School in 1944. Following high school she attended Midland Lutheran College. She married Marshall R. Hardy on April 25, 1946, in Fremont. She taught school in Washington and Douglas counties for eight years and Fremont Opportunity School in Fremont for one year. Following her teaching career she began working for the Dodge County Treasurer's office where she worked for 17 years. In 1978, she became the Dodge County Treasurer where she worked until her retirement in 1991.

She was preceded in death by her parents; twin sister, Vivian A. Flanders; sister, Velva C. Piekarski; and brother, J. R. Christiansen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Timothy Lutheran Church.

The funeral will take place at 11 a.m. Dec. 2 at Dugan Funeral Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of the funeral on Friday.
