Raced Stockcars in Arlington in the 50's

Former Blair resident Everett S. Murphy, 85, died April 4, 2011, at his home in Omaha of natural causes. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Brewer-Korisko-Larkin & Staskewicz Funeral Home in Omaha.

Everett Stuart "Cake" Murphy was born Nov. 28, 1925, in Ewing to Stuart and Effie (Tucker) Murphy. He was employed at Kelly Ryan and raced stock cars at the Arlington Speedway in the ‘50s.

He married Shirley (Knudsen) Dixon in 1954.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Dale Stickney of Omaha; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Kim Murphy of Blair; three grandsons; one great-granddaughter; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Jean (Mrs. Wes) Russell and Gloria Ruth (Mrs. Bill) Spiegel.
