David Soren Svendgaard died peacefully at his home in Sun City, Arizona on December 8, 2016. David was born July 4, 1939, and raised in Blair. He retired in January 1996 after 37 years of employment with Western Electric/AT&T in Omaha.

He was an avid golfer who loved the sunshine, camping and fishing. He was also well-known for his musical talents. David was a huge Huskers fan, carrying on a family legacy of supporting the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers. Many have loving memories of a man of melody who could walk into a room full of strangers and leave as their best friend.

David is survived by his loving wife, Rosie, and their four children: daughters, Sheri (Jack) Johnson, Kristi (Rick) Nicholas, and Joni (James) Gerrard, and son, Jerry David (Sandra) Svendgaard; and sister, Cindy (Ron) Regier. He is lovingly referred to as "Papa" by 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one on the way. David was preceded in death by parents, Woodrow “Woody” and Marjorie Svendgaard; brothers, Walter Stewart and Lee Svendgaard; and grandson, Eric Soren Nicholas.
