Fred Plugge, 85, Succumbs

Arlington and Kennard Farmer Leaves Wife and Six Children

Resident of Washington County almost 70 years, Fred G. Plugge of Kennard died late Saturday afternoon at a Fremont nursing home, where he had been a patient since December. He was 85 years old.

The funeral, with arrangements in charge of the William Reckmeyer & Son Funeral Home, was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Kennard Lutheran Church. The Rev Ried Neve officiated and burial followed in Kennard Cemetery.

Frederick George Plugge was born at Oldenburg, Germany, Nov. 13, 1868. He came to Nebraska when 11 years old and first lived at Columbus with an older sister. Some five years later he came to the Arlington area as a farm laborer and had been a Washington Countian since then.

He and Miss Sophia Heuerman were married Mar. 2, 1892. They lived on farms near Arlington and Kennard before moving into Kennard in 1936.

Mr. Plugge is survived by his wife, Sophia; three sons, Henry and Walter of Kennard and Albert Plugge of Arlington; and three daughters, Mrs. Julius Siercks of Fremont, Mrs. Lorena Klinger of Los Angeles and Mrs. Clark Jahnel of Kennard. There are 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Rites Set Tuesday for Fred Plugge

ARLINGTON --- Funeral services for Fred G. Plugge, 85, longtime resident of this area, have been set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Kennard Lutheran Church. The Rev. Ried Neve will officiate. Burial will be in the Kennard Cemetery.

Mr. Plugge died Saturday at a nursing home in Fremont He was born at Oldenburg, Germany Nov. 13, 1868 and came to Nebraska when he was 11. He first lived at Columbus and came to this area about five years later.

Mr. Plugge married Miss Sophia Heuerman March 2, 1892. They lived on farms near Arlington and Kennard before moving to Kennard in 1936. Mr. Plugge had been ill since last December.

Surviving are his widow; three sons, Henry and Walter of Kennard and Albert of Arlington; three daughters, Mrs. Julius Siercks of Fremont, Mrs. Lorena Klinger of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Clark Jahnel of Kennard; 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Reckmeyer Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
