Longtime Resident of Arlington Dies; Lutheran Rites at Kennard

Mrs. Sophie Plugge, 81, resident of Arlington virtually all her life, died Friday afternoon at Dodge County Hospital in Fremont. Widow of Fred George Plugge, she had been ill two weeks after suffering a heart attack.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Reckmeyer chapel, followed at 2 p.m. by services at the Kennard Lutheran Church. The Rev. Ried Neve officiated and burial followed in Kennard Cemetery.

Mrs. Plugge’s death followed that of her husband by eight months. Of late, she had been living with a daughter, Mrs. Julius Siercks, in Fremont.

Surviving Mrs. Plugge are three sons, Henry and Walter Plugge of Kennard, and Albert Plugge of Arlington; and three daughters, Mrs. Julius Siercks (Rosa) of Fremont, Mrs. Lorena Klinger of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Clark Jahnel (Edna) of Kennard. Other survivors include 16 grand-children, 13 great-grandchildren, also a brother, Henry Heuerman of Scottsbluff, Nebr.

Sophie Pauline Heuermann was born Oct. 29, 1872, at Cleves, Ohio, and came to Arlington with her parents the following year. She had spent the ensuing 80 years in Washington County.

She and Fred George Plugge were married Mar. 2, 1892, and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 1952. Mr. Plugge died Febr. 27, 1954.

Arlington --- Funeral services were held for Mrs. Sophie Plugge, 81, an Arlington resident nearly all her life, who died at Dodge county Hospital in Fremont. Mrs Plugge and her husband, Fred George, who died eight months ago, observed their 60th wedding anniversary in 1952. Surviving are her sons, Henry and Walter of Kennard, and Albert of Arlington, daughters, Mrs. Julius Siercks of Fremont, Mrs. Lorena Klinger of Los Angeles and Mrs. Clark Jahnel of Kennard; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and a brother, Henry Heuerman of Scottsbluff.
