Willus G. Mundorf, 89, of Exira, Iowa, died Friday, April 8, 2011, at the Exira Care Center in Exira.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 13 at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m., on Wednesday. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.

Willus George Mundorf was born February 12, 1922, to George and Syrilda (Short) Mundorf, in Blair. He attended country school in Blair, graduating in 1940.

He married Bernice Goldbeck on May 24, 1942.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served overseas during WWII, attaining the rank of colonel. The couple lived on a farm in Blair where they raised five children. In 1966, they moved to Atlantic, Iowa, where he farmed, then later owned and operated Mundorf Hog Market. They returned to Blair after retiring in 1988.

Mr. Mundorf loved fishing and took many trips to Valentine, South Dakota and Montana. He enjoyed gardening, mowing and believed in working hard.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice, of Exira; son, Steve Mundorf and friend, Paula, of Atlantic; daughters and son-in-law, Linda and George Briggs of Herman and Carol Sparks of Kansas; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Gary Mundorf and Dennis Mundorf; great-grandson, Jarrod Borsch; sisters, Lorraine Taylor and Ardelle Moulder; twin brother, Willard Mundorf; and brother, Clifford Mundorf.
