Janis D. Tibke, age 80, of Arlington died Friday, January 6, 2017, at Fremont Health. Janis was born on June 26, 1936, in Ida Grove, Iowa to Earl and Minnie "Scott" Surber. She moved with her family to Omaha at a young age, eventually graduating from Omaha Technical High School. She married Wayne Tibke and they continued to live in Omaha. After their four children were born, the family moved to Arlington. Janis worked at House Lumber in Fremont, Arlington Schools, then at the Bank of the West in Omaha.

Janis was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Narcissus Chapter #269 of Omaha and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington.

Survivors include daughters: Lori (Bill) Wolf of Arlington, Karen (Rod) Royuk of Fremont, Lynne Tibke of Arlington, Connie (Jeff) Widhelm of Valley; grandchildren and their families: Craig (Mindy) Wolf and their children, Ashton and Henry, Christopher (Tashia) Wolf, and their children, Macy, Ainsley and Berkely, Zachary (Deanna) Royuk, and their son, Kaleb, Rachal Royuk; brothers: Jim Surber and John Surber, both of Council Bluffs, IA; special friend, Don Nielsen of Hooper; granddog, Sadie.

Janis was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, in December of 1980; parents; and two sisters.

The funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Arlington. The Rev. Rick Kanoy officiated. Burial followed in the Arlington Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Arlington Volunteer Fireand Rescue. Visitation was Monday, Jan. 9 from 3 to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont.
