Eva DeVasure, 98

Eva Lizzie DeVasure, 98, Tekamah, widow of Charles S. DeVasure, died early on Friday morning, November 20, 1987 at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair, where she had been a resident for nearly two years.

She was born near Lebanon, Missouri, on January 31, 1889 to Alonzo and Mary (Manning) Goans.

She was married to Charles S. DeVasure on July 14, 1912, near Lebanon, Missouri, and came to this area in 1917.

The couple farmed for nearly all their lives.

Mr. DeVasure died on February 12, 1962.

Survivors include one son, Warren H. DeVasure of Tekamah; one daughter, Theda Cotter of Engelwood, Colorado; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers: Howard Goans and Donald Goans, both of Lebanon, Missouri; two sisters: Emma Layman of Lebanon, Missouri and Laura Chrisman of Lees Summitt, Missouri; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son (Burvell DeVasure in 1928) and two sisters, Lydia Hawkins and Ruth Hawkins.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 1987 at the United Methodist Church in Tekamah with Rev. Marion H. Knoell officiating.

Interment will be in the Tekamah Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by the Hamel & Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah, where friends may call after Saturday.
