ARLINGTON WOMAN STRICKEN SUNDAY

MRS. MARY ECHTENKAMP, 69, DIED AT SON’S HOME SUNDAY MORNING

Mrs. Mary Echtenkamp, 69, widow of John W. Echtenkamp and a pioneer resident of the Arlington neighborhood, died Sunday morning at the farm home of her son, Leonard, near Arlington. She had suffered a stroke about two years ago. Since October 1, 1934, she had been bedfast.

As Mary Louise Hilgenkamp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Hilgenkamp, pioneer countians, Mrs. Echtenkamp was born near Arlington, February 6, 1865. On February 25, 1887, she was married to John W. Echtenkamp. Her husband died two years ago, and since that time she had lived with her son.

Parents of 5 Children

Five children were born to the couple; one of them, Mrs. William Krallman, dying a number of years ago. Surviving children are John and Leonard Echtenkamp of Arlington, William G. Echtenkamp and Mrs. Eddie Meier of Wayne. Other survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Louise Dickmeyer, Mrs. Theodore Rinas and Mrs. E.H. Dunklau, all of Arlington, and a number of grandchildren and other relatives.

Funeral rites were conducted Wednesday at the Leonard Echtenkamp residence at 1 o’clock in the afternoon, followed by services at St. Paul Lutheran church of near Arlington, of which the pioneer woman had been a prominent member most of her life. Rev. G.W. Wolter officiated.
