Wayne Appleby, 77, of Craig passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Wayne was born July 30, 1939, in Blair to Clinton and Lucille (LeCrone) Appleby. He spent his early years on a farm outside of Blair, and then his family moved to Arlington, where he graduated from high school. He was employed as a butcher at the Arlington Grocery Store and Chappelear Locker.

Wayne married Rosetta Theye on June 14, 1964, in Fremont. They lived in Fremont until moving to Kennard in 1971. Wayne was on the Kennard Fire and Rescue Dept. and was also a Kennard Police Officer. Wayne did custom meat butchering for over 30 years. He worked for Steinbaugh's, Carlson Dreff's Locker, and Blair Meat Locker.

Wayne enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, crafting, and camping with his family and friends. He gave his kids motorcycle rides and hands on training, working on cars and motors. The couple moved to Strasburg, Va., for a short time and then moved to Craig, NE.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Rosetta; sons, Doug (Tina) Appleby of Fremont, and Shane (Karlaye) Appleby of Wausa; daughter, Donna Jean Case of Pasco, Calif.; brothers-in-law, Bruce (June) Theye of Waverly and Gail (Carolyn) Theye of O'Neil; sisters- in-law, Connie (Denny) Rowe of Fremont and Debbie (Dave) Lange of East Bernard, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Venessa Ernesti; and sisters- in- law, Helen Bradley, and Pat Velder.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Pastor Scott Millard will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday, February 14th at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.
