Debra L. Ellis, 53, of Lyons, formerly of Oakland and Tekamah, died Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at Oakland Heights Nursing Home in Oakland.

She was born Nov. 3, 1957, in Blair, to Bill and Virginia (Andreasen) Ellis. She lived with her parents in Tekamah until moving to Oakland, and then to Lyons, where she worked and lived with Northstar in their group homes.

She attended churches in Oakland, Lyons, and West Point. She was employed part time at the Highway Café in Lyons until she retired in 2007.

Survivors include: a sister, Cheryl Christensen (and husband, Dr. Doug Christensen) of Lincoln; a brother, Bruce Ellis (and wife, Judy) of Alto, N.M.; and a special friend, Mike Barger of Lyons.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Tekamah Cemetery with the Rev. Travis Borkorsky officiating. There is no visitation. Burial will be in Tekamah Cemetery.
