Theodore H. Blatter, 84

Theodore H. Blatter, 84, of Las Vegas Nev., died Feb. 15, 2007. A private church service was held Feb. 18.

Theodore “Ted” Henry Blatter was born June 14, 1922 in Fremont, the eldest of eight children of JW “Bill” and Anna May (Monke) Blatter. His father was a Blair pharmacist for 45 years. He graduated from Blair High School in 1939.

While serving in the US Air Force in Florida during World War II, he earned his degree in aeronautical engineering/mechanics. He later moved to California, where he worked as a supervisor in the aerospace industry for 33 years for North American Aviation, which later became Rockwell International in Downey, CA. His work included travels to Cape Canaveral, Fla., for the robotic and manned lunar missions of the Mercury, the Apollo, and other space shuttle projects.

He was an avid golfer in Nevada, as well as in California.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Maribel “Billie”; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and James Freeland of Sedona, AZ; one grandson and his family; two great-grandsons; sisters and brothers-in-law; Pauline Lallman of Fontanelle, Anne and Byron Bruner of Long Beach, CA, Alice and John Dick of Fremont, Dorothy and Dale Albus of Blair; sisters-in-law, Janet Thompson of Las Vegas and Jeanette Blatter of Wheat Ridge CO, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, John Blatter and Bill Blatter; sister, Helen (Pat) Barta; and brothers-in-law, Leroy Barta and Curtis Lallman; and sisters-in-law Audrey and Jean Blatter.

Memorials are suggested to the Nathan Adelson Hospice, 3391 N. Buffalo, Las Vegas, NV 89129 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
