Dr. Dean M. Bloch, 78, of Arlington died Sunday, Feb.24, 2008 at the Fremont Medical Center.

Graveside services will be at 11 am Friday, Feb. 29, at the Arlington Cemetery.

Dean M. Bloch was born January 23, 1930 in Arlington to Dr. David and Mabel (Eickhoff) Bloch.

He graduated from Arlington High School; in 1947 and from Midland Lutheran College in Fremont in 1951. He taught high school science in Oakland in 1951 and 1952 while awaiting entry in medical school. He graduated from the University Of Nebraska College Of Medicine in 1957 and interned at the University Of Nebraska Medical Center during 1957 and 1958. He then began his practice in 1958 with his father. He closed in practice in 1995 and then served as an emergency room physician at Memorial Hospital in Dodge County until retiring in 1998.

He as a member of the Dodge County and Nebraska State Medical Associations, and was a former member of the Fremont Golf Club.

On May 26, 1960 he married Sherrill Lenihan in Fremont. His wife survives him, as does his son and daughter-in-law, David and Kathy Bloch of Hooper; two daughters and son-in-law, Susan and Gary Anderson of North Bend, and Terry Westergaard of Arlington; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to the Arlington Rescue Squad.
