M. Janet Bliss, 90

M. Janet Bliss, 90, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 20, 1988, at the Crowell Memorial Home in Blair, where she had been a resident for the past 13 months.

Janet was born on Feb. 25, 1898 at Tekamah to Charles M. and Julia (Wulff) Schroeder. Janet lived in the Tekamah area nearly all her life, having graduated from Tekamah High School in 1917.

She was married to Joseph M. Bliss in June 1924 in Tekamah. Mr. Bliss passed away on Oct. 28, 1975.

A longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Tekamah, Janet was also active in the Presbyterian Women’s Circle and was a member of the A.V.H. Club in Tekamah.

Survivors include two sons: Phil Bliss of Omaha and Charles Bliss of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; 10 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Edna Penry and Grace Dison, and one brother, Byron Schroeder.

Funeral services were held at 11 am on Wednesday, Nov. 23, at the First Presbyterian Church in Tekamah with the Rev. Thomas E. Robson officiating. Burial was in the Tekamah Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were handled by the Hamel and Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah.
