Phylis J. Hancock, 90, of North Platte, formerly of Fremont, died Monday, April 18, 2011, at Linden Court in North Platte.

She was born Sept. 15, 1920, in rural Blair to Ray and Lillian (Hansen) Casey. She grew up in Kennard and graduated from Kennard High School. After high school, she moved to Omaha and worked at Kresge's Department Store. In 1939, she moved to Fremont and worked at Schweser's Department Store.

Phylis Casey married Harry G. Hancock on March 31, 1940, in Fremont. He died April 17, 2002.

Phylis and Harry lived in several Nebraska and South Dakota communities after their marriage, as he transferred with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. They returned to Fremont in 1989.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Blair.

Survivors include: a son, Greg (and wife, Gladys) Hancock of Missouri Valley, Iowa; daughters, Mary Jo (and husband, Vic) Albracht of Platte City, Mo., and Cindy (and husband, Sam) Bedke of North Platte; a sister, Lilarae Landis of North Platte; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a brother, two sisters, three brothers-in-law, a granddaughter and a grandson.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with the Rev. Roger Todd officiating. Visitation with family receiving friends will be from 12:30-2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Kennard Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Arthritis Foundation or American Diabetes Association.
