Dr. David M. Bloch, 92

Services were held Saturday, February 9 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont for Dr. David M. Bloch of Arlington who died February 7, 1991 at the Masonic Home in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Rev. Dan Cassidy of Arlington Community Church officiated.

A Masonic service was conducted by members of Fremont Lodge No. 15 A.F. & A.M. immediately following the services. Burial with full military honors, conducted by the American Legion Post, No. 71 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8332 of Arlington was in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

David M. Bloch was born December 25, 1898 at Fremont. He graduated from Shelby High School in 1916 and served in the United States Army during World War I. He graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical College in 1923 and served his internship at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

He was in general practice in Cedar Bluffs for one year. He then came to Arlington to join Dr. R.F. Davies in 1926.

He as a 70-year member of the Fremont Lodge No. 15, A.F. & A.M., holder of the Jordan Medal for having the longest membership in the Fremont Lodged and was a member of the Arlington Community Church, United Church of Christ. He was a scoutmaster of the Boy Scouts of America in Arlington from 1928-1936 and was a member of the Arlington School Board from 1928-1953.

He was a member of the medical staff of Memorial Hospital of Dodge County. He served as the first chairman of the staff when the new hospital opened in 1940 and again in 1957, retiring from medical practice in 1981 after 56 years of service to the community. He was a life member of the Dodge County Medical Society and the Nebraska Medical Association.

He originally joined the American Legion Post No. 1 in Omaha n 1918. He has been a life member of Post No. 71 in Arlington for 73 years.

He married Mabel Eickhoff in Fremont on June 24, 1924. They had one son, Dr. Dean M. Bloch. She died June 27, 1974.

He married Mildred Wachter on June 27, 1975. She survives.

Other survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Dean M. and Sherrill Bloch of Arlington; a step-son and step-daughter Dr. Ronald and Sheryl Wachter of Springfield, Missouri; a step-daughter and step son-in-law, Janet kay and Brigadier General Harold Nelson of Arlington, Virginia; three grandchildren and their spouses, Susan (Mrs. Gray) Anderson of North Bend, David and Kathy Bloch of Fremont, Terri (Mrs. Eugene) Westergaard of Craig; five step-grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Bill Appleby, Dennis Koley, Neil Lang, Ray Pfeiffer, Gerald Russell, Martin Scheer, Dr. Lauren Spangle and Jay Thomsen.

Honorary pallbearers were LeRoy Brown and Dr. Jack Cady.

Joyce Dunklau was organist.

Memorials may be given to the Arlington Library or the Masonic Home in Plattsmouth.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington was in charge of arrangements.
