She was born December 9, 1917, to George and Wilhelmine (Kaempf) Franke on the family farm near Fontanelle, Nebraska. She grew up there and graduated from Fontanelle High School. Helen has lived in Fremont since 1944.

Helen was employed in Fremont by SS Kresge (dimestore in downtown Fremont) for 13 years, IGA Grocery Store for 13 years, and she retired as a bookkeeper from Walgreen’s Drug Store after 21 years.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle where she was a Sunday School teacher and superintendent, quilter, choir member, and hospitality chairman of Women of Salem, and member of Women of the ELCA. She had also been a 4-H Leader in Washington County.

She was preceded in death by her parents George and Wilhelmine, an infant sister and sisters Anna Rose and Wilhelmine, brothers George, Herbert, and Chester.

The funeral service will be 10:30 AM Monday (Nov. 28th) at Salem Lutheran Church, Fontanelle with Rev. Allison Siburg. The committal will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont, Sunday (Nov. 27th) from 2 to 5 PM. Memorials are suggested to Salem Lutheran Church, Fontanelle, and to Mosaic."
