She taught guitar lessons at an early age, working in the meat department at Hinky Dinky and Duffy's Market and was a Fashion Two Twenty beauty consultant. She belonged to St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Omaha Airport Acres Extension Club, VFW Auxiliary and PTA, and was a MOCA Volunteer, room mother and Girl Scout leader.

Irene enjoyed many things in her life, but most of all, her large family of 4 children and their spouses; 21 grandchildren and spouses; 33 great-grandchildren and spouses; and 16 great-great grandchildren. Throughout the years, she cared for all the children and she enjoyed cooking and baking for them. They especially enjoyed the after-school treat and games they played together. Her children will remember enjoying many hours of music and singing in the evenings with their parents.

Among other interests, she loved to crochet, sew, cook and do many crafts for her family. She made many lovely items and won several ribbons for her crafts. She made her daughters' wedding dresses, as well as many items for family and charity. She enjoyed music, besides playing the guitar and organ. She was a husker fan and watched the games on TV. She loved playing cards, games, going to the casino, holding and spoiling her pet dogs.

Irene is survived by her children listed above; her sister-in-law, Rita Krawczyk of Pawnal, VT.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Agnes LaTour; husband, Francis of 51 years; son, Frank; grandson, Paul Frederick; sister and brother-in-law, Viola and Sylvan Schneider; and brother, William LaTour.

The greatest gift of all she gave to her family was her love.
