Arlington Resident Since 1992

Irene E. Sherod, 80, of Arlington died Monday, April 18, 2011, at Nye Pointe Health and Rehab Center in Fremont.

She was born Jan. 30, 1931, in Herman to Howard and Nora (Gieselmann) Franke. She grew up at rural Herman and graduated from Hooper High School in 1948. In 1950, she moved to Omaha where she did housekeeping and then attended beauty school. She graduated from Capitol Beauty School in May 1957 and worked as a beautician for one year before returning to housekeeping for several area families for many years. In 1992, they moved to Arlington.

Irene Franke married Paul R. Sherod on Sept. 28, 1958, in Omaha.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont and a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Arlington.

Survivors include: her husband, Paul; and two brothers, Maynard (and wife, Rose) Franke and Eugene (and wife, Jennie) Franke, all of Fremont.

A private family service will be held at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

The family requests memorials be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont.
