Madeline Suess, 97

Madeline Suess, age 97, of Fremont, died peacefully at the Fremont Health Medical Center on February 3, 2017. She was born March 22, 1919, to Peter and Julia Katt on the family farm, and grew up in the Arlington area. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Gilbert, Velmar, and Alvin Katt, and sister, Evelyn Nelson.

Madeline married Ernest Suess on October 11, 1944. They farmed in Dodge, Saunders and Washington Counties, and lived in Fremont and Flagstaff, AZ upon retiring. She was preceded in death by Ernest on Nov. 28, 2007, and her son, Ronald, on Jan. 25, 2015.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann (Ted) Sonderegger; daughter-in-law, Sharon Suess; grandchildren, Ryan (Keely) Suess, Justin (Emily) Suess, Kristin (Peter) Somers, Thomas (Meghan) Sonderegger; great-grandchildren, Emma, Ellie, Lillian, Caden Suess, Greta, Jack Somers, Julia Sonderegger.

Madeline was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Orum, and Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont. She loved people, and lived happily at Nye Square and Nye Courte during her final years. Madeline will be remembered for her kind heart, ready smile, and her desire to help others.

A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont. The Rev. Clay Skurdhl will officiate. Memorials may be directed to Salem Lutheran Church.
