Washington County native Marvin H. Hoeneman, 84, died Saturday, April 11, 2009, at the A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

The funeral service was Thursday, April 16, at Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Hooper. Interment was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 196.

Marvin H. Hoeneman was born Oct. 5, 1924, on the farm near Arlington to William and Olga (Schmidt) Hoeneman. He grew up on the farm there, attending St. Paul's Lutheran School.

He worked for area farmers until entering the United States Army, where he served during the years of 1946 and 1947. He served in the Quartermaster Corps during the occupation of Japan. He received the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal.

On his return home from the military, he began farming in the Craig area.

In 1948, he married Ione Oerman; she died in September of 1985.

In 1989, he married Elnora Lauritsen Taylor and they made their home in Fremont; she died in August of 1993.

In 1994, he married Ruth Verbeek Reker. Soon after their marriage, they moved to the Craig area.

Mr. Hoeneman was baptized Oct. 15, 1924, and confirmed May 15, 1938, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Arlington. He was currently a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Winslow.

He was also a member of American Legion Post 196 of Uehling.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughter and son-in-law, Lorie and Duane Aulston of Julesburg, Colo.; son and daughter -in-law, Kent and Terri Hoeneman of Craig; stepdaughter and spouse, Cindy and Steve Warrick of Winter Springs, Fla.; stepsons and spouses, Michael and Sharon Taylor of Nickerson, Gordon and Gail Taylor of Fremont, and Wayne and Shirin Taylor of Blair; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren and 11 step-great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Gerald Kuss of Holdredge; brothers, Raymond Hoeneman of Fremont and Elmer Hoeneman of Omaha; seven brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law.

In addition to his two wives, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter; two sisters; a brother-in-law; and a sister-in-law.

Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Chruch or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
