McVicker, Shirley A. Age 71 Of Gretna, NE. Died Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at CHI Health Lakeside in Omaha. Shirley was born April 19, 1945 in Oakland, NE, to Raymond and Mildred (Schneider) Tichota. She grew up in Snyder, NE, and was a 1963 graduate of Snyder High School. She moved to Omaha and worked there until her marriage to John "Jack" McVicker on March 30, 1968 at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Omaha. They moved to Grand Junction and West Des Moines, IA, in 1968. In 1971 they moved back to Omaha. In 1975, she attended UNO and received her Bachelors and Master's degrees in Education. Shirley taught at Millard North High School in Omaha until her retirement in 2007. She and her husband then started an in-house daycare operating it until her death. She enjoyed taking trips to the Caribbean, baking and sewing. Shirley is survived by her husband, John "Jack" of Gretna; daughters, Michelle Rae and husband, Peter Zernik of Northbrook, IL; and Carrie Lynn and husband, Scott Russmann of Prosper, TX; brother, Robert and wife, Jenny Tichota of Blair, NE; sister, Connie of Georgia; and grandchildren: Jackson Russmann, Taylor Russmann, Ethan Zernik, and Gabi Zernik. She was preceded in death by her parents. MEMORIAL VISITATION and Book Signing with family receiving friends will be Saturday, April 15, 2017, from 10am-12pm at Moser Memorial Chapel in North Bend, NE. GRAVESIDE SERVICE will follow in Woodland Cemetery at North Bend. Memorials may be designated to the American Diabetes Association. Online condolences may be left at www.mosermemorialchapels.com.
