Robert L. Holderness, 75, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007, at his home in Blair.

Memorial services are 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at the First Christian Church in Blair.

Robert Lee Holderness was born Nov. 9, 1932, in Cherokee, Iowa, to Leslie and Mae (Bannister) Holderness. He moved to Omaha and began working at Mutual of Omaha in 1950 at the age of 28. He retired from the company in 1987.

He married Jean Yecha in 1954; they became residents of Blair in 1958. In Blair, Mr. Holderness served his community as a volunteer policeman and fireman for five years.

He enjoyed camping, fishing and family vacations in Yankton, S.D. He mostly enjoyed being with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; daughter and son-in-law, LeAnn and Merle Meyer; two grandsons and their families; a granddaughter and her family; other family and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Bernadine Harper.
