Services held Saturday For “Butch” Hoxsie

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 11, for 36 year old Vernon LeRoy “Butch” Hoxsie of Blair. Mr. Hoxsie died April 9 at the Blair Memorial Community Hospital after an extended illness.

Services were held at the First Methodist Church in Blair with Rev. Gordon Patterson officiating. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery under the direction of the Campbell Funeral Home.

Vernon LeRoy “Butch” Hoxsie was born at Omaha on February 11, 1945, to Vernon A. and Lorena Hoxsie. He attended Clearwater, Nebraska School through the fifth grade, and then attended Blair School until his graduation in 1963. He married Barbara Brunk on September 19, 1964.

He served in the Navy for six years with two years in the Reserves. He was stationed in San Diego, California, and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in December, 1966.

Mr. Hoxsie lived with his wife, Barbara and family, Michael, 14, Randal, 12, and Lauri, 9, at 814 N. 14th Avenue in Blair. He was employed in the masonry trade by Pedersen Construction. He had worked for many contractors in and around the Blair area.

He is survived by his wife Barbara and three children, Mike, Randy and Lauri, all of Blair. His parents also survive. They are Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Hoxsie of Kennard. Also surviving are a sister and a brother. They are Mrs. James (Sandra) Jack of Topeka, Kansas and Terry Hoxsie of Kennard.

Pallbearers were Ernie Brennis, Tom Dein, Sidney Haswell, Norman Nelsen, Bill Smith and Leroy Stevens.
