John T. May, 79

John T. May, born September 7, 1937, in Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Tuesday April 25, 2017, at Premier Estates Nursing Home in Fremont, NE. He had moved to Blair in the spring of 2013 from Overland Park, Kansas.

He is survived by his wife, Judith A. (Gleeson) May of Blair; children, Dr. John J. May (Lisa Choules) of Kansas City, Bill (Monica) May of West Des Moines, IA, Kathleen (Robert) Matney of Blair, Jinny (Dr. Josh) Max of Cincinnati, OH, Michael May of Kansas City, MO; and 16 grandchildren.

There will be a rosary on Friday, April 28 at 10 a.m. followed by a Requiem Mass at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Omaha, NE. Burial services will be Monday, May 1, at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Raytown, MO at 2 p.m.

John was the son of Helene J. (Kennedy) and John J. May of Kansas City, MO, where he graduated from Rockhurst High School in 1954 and graduated from Loyal University of Chicago, IL in 1958. After serving in the military, he attended and graduated from the University of Missouri Kansas City Law School. He had been a partner in the Lathrop Gage law firm in Kansas City, MO. He moved his family to Overland Park where he and his wife lived for 41 years. He was an avid reader of almost anything, but in particular, eastern European philosophers and historians. He also loved coaching all of his children in youth soccer leagues, making sure that each team member was treated fairly. He was actively involved in the reinstating and maintaining the Latin Rite Mass in Kansas City.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the loving and patient care extended to John over his year-and-a-half stay at Premier Estates of Fremont.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Immaculate Conception Church in Omaha or any pro-life group of choice.
