George William Bloemker, 82

George William Bloemker was on on May 24, 1902 in Adair, Iowa, to Ernest W. Bloemker and Elizabeth (nee’Mueller) Bloemker. He was baptized June 8, 1902 by Pastor Arthur Muetler at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Adair, Iowa.

His family lived near O’Neill and then West Point. He was confirmed on April 16, 1916 by Rev. ED Oelschlaeger at West Point, NE. His confirmation verse was Lamentations 3:24-25. At age 16 they moved to Hooper.

On January 30, 1930 he married Dorothy Fuchs at Winslow, NE, by Rev. J.H. Gerdes.

He farmed in Washington County for approximately 35 years. He retired to Fremont in January of 1965, working for the Farmers Union-John Deere Division and most recently doing custodial work for ConAgra.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Chairman of the A.S.C. in Washington County for several years, and a member of AARP and the Izaak Walton League.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy, 3 sons and 1 daughter; 12 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Sons are Gene of Fremont, Robert of Poway, CA, and Rev. Rudolph of Hastings, Iowa; daughter-Mrs. Kenneth (Donna) Skoog of Fremont. Two brothers; Ed of Fremont, ad Lloyd of Greely, CO; three sisters, Mrs. Harry (Anna) Busch of Fremont, Mrs. Ray (Clara) Lhotak of Scribner, and Mrs. Emma Kuss of Hooper.

He was preceded in death my one brother, John Bloemker.

George departed this life on Tuesday, June 26, 1984 at the age of 82 years, 1 month and 2 days.

His mortal remains are laid to rest in Memorial Cemetery, Fremont, following divine services at Trinity Lutheran Church on this day, June 29, 1984.
