Avid Golfer, Bowler, Fisher and Dog Lover

Richard A. Masters, 80, died Saturday, May 14, 2011, at his home in Fremont. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, at First Congregational Church, U.C.C. in Fremont. There is no visitation.

Richard A. Masters was born Jan. 16, 1931, at Arlington to Loren and Eula (Adams) Masters. He grew up at Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army from Jan. 27, 1949, to Jan. 26, 1950, and he served in the U.S. Air Force from Dec. 29, 1950, to Aug. 12, 1954, during the Korean War.

He moved to Fremont in 1956. He worked at Hormel & Co. in 1950 and again from 1954-1992. He was an avid golfer, bowler, fisher and a dog lover.

He was a member of First Congregational Church, U.C.C. at Fremont, Arlington V.F.W. Post #8332 and American Legion Post #20 of Fremont.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Pat and Rita Masters and Kent and Amelia Masters, all of Albuquerque, N.M., and Tom Masters of the Bahamas; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Nila Utterback of Lincoln.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Dodge County Humane Society.

Moser Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
