Carl F. Horn, a pioneer of Washington County, died at his home in Herman on Thursday, November 6, 1913, aged 79 years and 14 days. He had been ailing for a number of years and death was due to a general rundown system.

Mr. Horn came to this county in 1867 and located on a farm west of Herman in 1869, where he resided up to about seven years ago, when he moved to Herman. He leaves a widow and four sons, Henry, Chris, John, and Lewis, who reside near Herman, and one daughter, Mrs. H. N. Thone of this city.

The funeral services were held Saturday, Rev. John Poucher conducting the services, and the body was laid to rest in the Herman Cemetery.

On Thursday evening at seven o’clock at his home in Herman, Carl Horn who has been well known in the county for a great many years passed away.

Mr. Horn was one of the earlier settlers on York Creek and retired from the farm several years ago moving to Herman. The deceased leaves behind him a wife, four sons and one daughter, Henry, Chris, John, and Lewis, all of Herman and Mrs. Nick Thone of Blair.

Mr. Horn was over 79 years old and was born in Holstein, Germany. He came to this country in 1867 and settled first in Calhoun. In 1869 he moved into the York Creek district. The funeral was held Sunday. Rev. John Poucher officiating and interment was made at the Herman Cemetery.

Carl Horn passed away Thursday evening after a long illness. The funeral sermon was held at the Baptist Church Saturday afternoon by Rev. Poucher. Deceased had passed his seventy-ninth year, yet up until he took sick was always busy. He will be greatly missed by everyone. The funeral was largely attended.
