David Vanderslice, 42 Interment at Blair Cemetery Thursday

David Vanderslice, 42, died Sunday, May 22, 2011, at his home in Columbus.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 26, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. in the Blair Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church on Thursday, with a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m.

David L. VanDerslice, 42

Enjoyed Road Trips and Officiating Athletic Events

David L. VanDerslice, 42, died Sunday, May 22, 2011, at his home in Columbus.

Services were Thursday, May 26, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus. Interment was in the Blair Cemetery.

David L. VanDerslice was born Dec. 10, 1968, in Wahoo to Paul and Janice (Cuda) VanDerslice. He grew up in Seward and graduated from Seward High School in 1987. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism in 1991.

On Aug. 17, 1991, he married Ronda Christensen in Blair.

He worked at KZ100 radio in Central City, before the family moved to Columbus in 1997. He went to work at the U.S. Post Office, where he had worked for the last 11 years as a bulk mail clerk. He also spent time working at KTLX radio at Trinity Lutheran Church.

He enjoyed taking road trips and officiating all kinds of athletic events.

He is survived by his wife, Ronda, of Columbus; daughters, Joslynn and Melissa VanDerslice, also of Columbus; parents, Paul and Janice VanDerslice of Seward; brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Morie VanDerslice and Brian and Heather VanDerslice, also of Seward; in-laws, Russell and Susie Christensen of Blair; and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Mildred Cuda and Carl and Margaret VanDerslice.

Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus was in charge of arrangements.
