Mrs. Hovendick, beloved wife of Mr. Herman Hovendick, for many years a resident of this place, died at her residence in Blair last Tuesday night, about 9 o’clock, from a sudden attack of pneumonia. The funeral was held Friday from the German Lutheran Church and interment at the Blair Cemetery.

In what high esteem she was held by all who knew her, far and near, was plainly seen by the long procession that followed the remains to its final resting place. The loss of such a loving wife and mother is deeply lamented by the surviving members of the family.

Mrs. Hovendick was born in Germany in 1840. Coming to this country when a young lady, she and husband settled in Illinois first. Later came to Nebraska when it was nearly a bleak prairie. Last June they moved to Blair to enjoy the fruits of their many years of toil, but she was not to enjoy it long for she was called to receive the reward that awaited her in a happier sphere than earth.
