Marilyn Claire (Reeh) Kempcke, 90, of Blair, passed away June 5, 2017, at Carter Place Assisted Living. Funeral service will be held Friday, June 9, 2017, at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Visitation will be held Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Campbell Aman Funeral Home.

Marilyn Claire (Reeh) Kempcke was born May 22, 1927, in Kennard, Nebraska, the daughter of Earl Leslie Reeh and Theodora (Finch) Reeh. She was Baptized and Confirmed in Christ at the First Congregation Church in Blair. Marilyn started school at Fort Calhoun then attended Riverview rural school from fifth to eight grade before returning to Fort Calhoun, where she graduated with the class of 1944. She then went on to study at Wayne State and Dana College, where she received her teaching certificate. Marilyn began teaching at a rural school in Lincoln in 1944. She continued teaching at Wranch School and finally, Sutherland School, until 1950.

In that time, Marilyn married Arthur Kempcke in January of 1949 at the First Congregational Church of Blair. To this union were born two children: son, Jeffrey, and daughter, Susan. Marilyn is survived by her son, Jeff (Lynette) Kempcke; daughter, Sue (Duane) Hilgenkamp; grandchildren: Kiley (Nate) Huber, B.J. (Abbie) Kempcke, Angie (Jimmy) March, K.C. Hilgenkamp; great-grandchildren: Jackson and Kendall Kempcke, Kember, Havah and Benton Huber, and Heidi, Zoe, Riley and Maggie March.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Arthur.
