Edna M. Hovendick, 86, of Washington County, died peacefully Sept. 15, 2008, with her family around her.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept.26, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Orum.

Edna Margaret Rohwer was born Jan. 25, 1922, in Omaha to George and Anna (Stolley) Rohwer. She attended District 57 in rural Douglas County.

On March 6, 1943, she married Herman H. Hovendick in Omaha.

Mr. and Mrs. Hovendick farmed near Blair. Mrs. Hovendick was active in the Merrymix Extension Club and her church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and quilting. Her children and grandchildren enjoyed the warmth of the many sweaters she knitted.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Maxine and David Dougherty of Quakertown, Penn., Jan Kloke of Millard; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Debby of Blair; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Ann Petersen; a niece and nephew.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman, in February 1999; and a brother, Clarence Rohwer.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
