Keith Beck Kuhr, 85

Keith Beck Kuhr, 85, of Grand Island died Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Litzenberg Long Term Care, in Central City. Mr. Kuhr’s wishes were to be cremated. No services are planned. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery at a later date. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.

Keith was born May 31, 1932, in Blair.. He was the son of Clarence and Edna (Beck) Kuhr.

Survivors of the immediate family include his wife of 61 years, Marilyce Joan Kuhr of Grand Island; two daughters and sons-in-law: Ronnda and Doyle Hebing of Carbondale, Colo. and Beckie and Steve Glause of Chapman; three grandchildren: Branden (Cory) Glause, Chad (Heather) Glause, Jenny (Shane) Studnicka;.six great-grandchildren: Lanee and Emery Glause, Isabelle and Winston Glause, Aubrie and Maya Studnicka, all filling his heart with love. Also one sister, Betty Vaughn, of Blair, and one brother, Gordon Kuhr, of Omaha.

Keith grew up in Blair and graduated from Blair High School in 1949. He owned and was very successful in the operation of his many businesses, beginning with Standard Oil Service Station from 1949 to 1951. He entered the Air Force on April 7, 1951, serving until his honorable discharge on January 6, 1955, serving 29 months in Asia. He married Marilyce Anderson April 14, 1956, at Schuyler. They owned and operated hardware stores in Stanton, Tekamah, Central City; a variety store in Ida Grove, Iowa and a Liquor store in Blair. Keith was a licensed Nebraska Real Estate Broker, salesman and sales manager for NP Dodge Real Estate in Omaha for several years.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Grand Island, American Legion Post 53 and a lifetime member of VFW 1347.

Keith’s endeavor in life was always family first, always able to find time for fun with family and his many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Floyd Vaughn; and sister-in-law, Linda Kuhr.
