Richard B. Keas, 81, of Blair, died Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Good Shepherd Home in Blair.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Chapel in Blair. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.

Richard B. "Dick" Keas was born July 12, 1929, in Colorado Springs, Colo., to William B. and Winnie (Bennett) Keas.

He joined the U.S. Navy, enlisting in October of 1947 and serving until December, 1952. He was a boatsman 3rd class.

He was the proud father of three children, Rick, Bob and Suzie, from his first marriage to Gene.

In 1967, he moved to Omaha, where he met and fell in love with Virginia "Ginny" Heisner. They married March 27, 1970, in Plattsmouth.

Mr. and Mrs. Keas had one son together, Joe, and she brought her children, Sue, Al, Judy, Nancy and Merri into their marriage. Mr. Keas raised all of her children as his own.

He loved western movies (especially John Wayne), gardening and Husker vs. Colorado football games.

In 1988, Mr. and Mrs. Keas settled in Herman and Blair, where he kept busy working for several shoe and convenience stores and the Taylor Oil Company.

After his wife's death in June of 2001, he spent much of his time with family and lived with his youngest son, Joe.

He was loved by all who knew him and is now together with Ginny for eternity.

He is survived by his children, Joe and Carol Keas of Blair, Rick and Connie Keas of Dodge City, Kan., Bob and Noreen Keas of Fort Mojave, Ariz., Suzie and Paul Lovelett of Charlotte, N.C., Suzanne and Carl Crook of Omaha, Al and Carmen Heisner Jr. of Denton, Texas, Judy and Larry Petterson of Ceresco, Nancy Meyer and Merri and Gordon Ausherman, all of Blair; sister, Penny, of Oklahoma; 30 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Ginny, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Eliot VanKirk; two brothers and one sister.
