Helene M. Rector, 92

Helene M. Rector, 92 years, of Fremont died June 20, 2017, at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont. She was born July 22, 1924, in Pender to Claus and Emma (Kuhr) Schluter. Helene married Bervin Rector, Sr. on November 19, 1954, in Fremont. She worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Company. The couple lived in Fremont until moving to Hooper in 1963. They returned to Fremont in 1990. Bervin died April 25, 2002.

Helene was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Fremont. She enjoyed gardening and sewing.

Helene is survived by sons, David Rector of Hooper and Berwyn (Debbie) Rector of Arlington; daughters, Beverly(Robert) Wall of Dixon, Tenn., Betty Maple of Ames, Neb. and Janice (Wayne) Cox of Reed Springs, MO; sister, May Taylor of Oakland; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband, Bervin; son, Bervin Rector, Jr.; son-in-law, Ted Maple; brother, George Schluter; an infant brother; sister, Anna Schlotfeld; and great-granddaughter, Kristin Miller.

The funeral service is at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 23 at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Fremont. The Rev. Russell McDowell will officiate. Burial will be at the Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials may be given to the "Special Class" at St. Timothy.
