Shirley was born on May 23, 1938 on the family farm north of Arlington to Martin and Edna 'Heidbrink' Hilgenkamp. She grew up there, attending St. Paul's Lutheran School and the Arlington High School.

On April 23, 1955, Shirley was married in St. Paul's Lutheran Church to Ray Hula, and they made their home in Fremont. Shirley went to work for Kings Food Host in Fremont. Then she went to work for Everly Plumbing and Heating, where her husband Ray was a partner in the business.

Shirley was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and had served on several committees and in various offices of the church. She was also a member of the Auxiliary of VFW Post 854 of Fremont.

Shirley was preceded in death by twin infant daughters and her parents.

The funeral service will be 10:30 AM Monday (Febr. 4th) in Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dan Heuer officiating. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran School Tuition Fund.

Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary will be on Sunday from 2 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 2 to 4 PM. Visitation at the church Monday morning will be for an hour before the service.

Her funeral was Monday, Feb. 4, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. Interment was in the Memorial Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Ray; daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Mark Baker of Omaha; son and daughter-in-law, Lt. Col. Russell and Elizabeth Hula of Carlisle, Penn.; three grandsons; one great-grandson; brother and sister in-law, Dallas and Pat Hilgenkamp of Uehling.

She was preceded in death by twin infant daughters, and her parents.

Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran School Tuition Fund.
