Former Kitchen Supervisor at Good Shepherd

Frances E. "Liz" Hansen Johnson, 93, died May 26, 2011. Services were June 1 at the Methodist Church in Hemingford.

Frances Elizabeth Zeller was born May 7, 1918, in Palmer to Henry T. and Suvilla (Brendle) Zeller. In 1924, the family moved to Hemingford. She graduated from Hemingford High School and attended Chadron State College for one year. She then worked at the Hemingford Ledger, Farmers Union Store, and Hansen Blacksmith.

In 1941, she married Leon Hansen. In 1955, the family moved to Omaha and, in 1958, they moved to Blair.

She was active in the Lutheran Girls Club and the Church Circle. For 12 years, she worked as a cook and kitchen supervisor at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.

Her husband died in 1971. In 1977, she moved back to Hemingford when she married Lamar Johnson, who died in 1992.

Mrs. Johnson was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, Hemingford Care Center, and the Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Sue and Lowell "Buzz" Madsen, Jane and Bill Parks; stepdaughters and spouses, Carol and John Hennings and Cathy and Marvin Spath; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Memorials are suggested to the Hemingford Care Center or Hemingford Library.
